Viaduct Box Girder of the Tunnel under Kanapuri River Completed
On April 19, the viaduct box girders of the connecting line of the Multi-lane Road Tunnel under the River karnaphuli Chittagong-Bangladesh were all erected, marking a breakthrough in the construction of the connecting line and auxiliary structures of the Project.
The design length of the project connecting line viaduct is 727 meters, with 24 spans and 203 box girders in total. With the increasingly severe epidemic situation in Bangladesh, the country and the city have been closed down for twice. The project department has always adhered to both epidemic prevention and control and resumption of work and production, and actively optimized the construction organization plan and resource allocation, ensuring timely availability of domestic labor personnel, materials and equipment, and guaranteeing the smooth and orderly progress of the project construction.
The Project is located at the estuary of the Kanapuri River in Chittagong City, Bangladesh, connecting the east and west banks of the Kanapuri River, with a total length of 9.3 kilometers. The shield tunnel section is 2,450 meters long, and the tunnel diameter is 11.8 meters. It is designed as two-hole four-lane with a design speed of 80 kilometers per hour. The Project is the first under-river tunnel in Bangladesh, which is of great significance to improving the Asian road network, promoting the interconnection between Bangladesh and neighboring countries, and promoting the international development of Bangladesh.
